Trump Replaces U.S. Envoy in Peace Talks After Kremlin Accusations - NBC

The U.S. special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, has been excluded from attending high-level peace negotiations concerning the conflict. This decision follows Moscow’s displeasure with his biased support towards Ukraine, according to NBC News.

A U.S. administration official along with a high-ranking Russian official informed NBC News that Vladimir Putin considered Keith Kellogg as being overly supportive of Ukraine. Consequently, Russia brought up the matter regarding his potential removal from the negotiations.

"Kellogg is an ex-American general with strong ties to Ukraine. He doesn’t align with what we’re seeking—simply not up to our standards," stated the Russian official.

A spokesperson for the Trump administration verified that Russia had lodged a complaint regarding Kellogg's involvement. Nevertheless, they were unable to provide details on when exactly the White House received notification about this request.

Meanwhile, National Security Council spokesman James Hewitt emphasized that Kellogg continues to be an important asset, particularly concerning talks with European partners.

NBC News pointed out that Kellogg was not involved in the talks between Russian and American delegates in Riyadh on February 18.

Talks aimed at concluding the conflict in Ukraine

The negotiations between Ukrainian and U.S. delegations occurred in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from March 11-12. At the meeting, the United States suggested a one-month truce across the whole frontline. The official representatives of Kyiv approved this proposition.

On March 13, a United States delegation landed in Moscow to talk about this issue with the Kremlin.

The Russian President, Vladimir Putin, voiced his backing for a proposed 30-day ceasefire but highlighted that he had reservations about certain "details."

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy indicated that Putin's "conditions" were not feasible, suggesting he was inclined to turn down the offer proposed by America.

U.S. President Donald Trump is hopeful that Russia will choose correctly.
