Devils' Defenseman Dougie Hamilton Out for Season With Injury

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — The New Jersey Devils announced on Thursday that defenseman Dougie Hamilton will likely be sidelined for the remainder of the NHL regular season due to an unspecified lower-body injury. Hamilton has been sidelined since injuring himself on March 4 during the game in Dallas. He had to leave the ice after only completing seven shifts. The Devils won't have top-center forward Jack Hughes numbered at No. 1 For the remainder of this season and throughout the playoffs following his shoulder surgery, New Jersey remains firmly in third place within the Metropolitan Division and appears headed for the postseason after sitting out last year. Before his injury sidelined him, Hamilton, who is 31 years old, was having a career-best season offensively.
