Naples Shaken by Devastating Earthquake: Residents Forced to Seek Safety in Streets After Worst Tremor in Four Decades
Naples has been shaken by one of the most severe earthquakes In the area for four decades, with inhabitants compelled to slumber on the pavements of the Italian city.

In another part of the nearby Bagnoli area, rescue teams liberated people who were stuck, whereas some individuals escaped from their windows, according to the news agency ANSA.
This follows a 4.4-magnitude earthquake recorded in May, which means this recent tremor shares the record for being the strongest to strike the region in several decades.
The epicenter of both earthquakes was recorded in the Phlegrian Fields in Pozzuoli, situated above Europe's largest active volcanic caldera. Over 500,000 inhabitants reside within the hazardous area surrounding the active Mount Vesuvius volcano.
Clips and images inundated social media today, depicting vehicles buried under rubble, dwellings fractured, and inhabitants rushing into the streets after dark.
The city officials shut down the schools in Bagnoli and established waiting areas where residents could take refuge.
The fire department stated that firefighters kept working throughout Bacoli, Bagnoli, and Pozzuoli.

In the 1980s, seismic activity led to large-scale evacuations, but experts now believe that a significant eruption in the near future is improbable.
